A Glorious Week at Watershed Studio North August 14th, 2016

It has now been a week since I returned from Sointula, British Columbia, where I spent seven glorious days recording music with David Essig at his ocean-front studio, a musician’s paradise. Working with David was a wonderful experience. Making me feel immediately at home and at ease, he helped me to deliver my best instrumental and vocal performances from the floor; and afterwards he embellished these live performances by contributing some utterly delicious bass, guitar, lap steel, mandolin, and even tzouras overdubs. I’m thrilled by the music we made together and can hardly wait to have the recordings mastered and released. But working with David had perks that went beyond the music, for he is a first-class chef whose delicious from-scratch meals nourished body and soul, a master storyteller whose stories both tugged at the heart and made me laugh, and and an attentive and patient listener when I rambled on enthusiastically. Now that I’m home again, it all seems like a dream. I’m immensely grateful to David for his musical generosity and kind hospitality. The whole Watershed North experience has put a bounce in my step. Stayed tuned for news of the CD release (coming this fall)…
