I’ve just returned from Neuchatel, Switzerland, the site of this year’s annual meeting of the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism. As usual, the conference was excellent, featuring many fine papers and plenary talks, and even better after-hours conversations on the outdoor terraces at the city’s many bars and cafes. At the conference I presented a paper on Anna Jameson and Sir Francis Bond Head–the long version of which has now been published in Romanticism. In November I’ll be heading to the International Conference on Romanticism in Tempe, Arizona, to present a paper on Bond Head and the Manitowaning Treaty, which forms a chapter in the book I’m currently writing. (That Bond Head fellow sure takes me places!) First, however, I’ll be heading to The Drive Shed in Toronto to record a new album of original songs. More on that project in the next post… Now, back to the books.
