I’m fortunate to be working with Jason Fowler–one of the country’s most talented and versatile finger-style guitarists–on my forthcoming CD. Not only is Jason co-producing the album (with Sahra Featherstone), but he also takes care of all of the guitar work, and he has contributed tracks on mandolin, charango, bouzouki, and even a bit of dulcimer. Working with Jason in the studio was an inspiration: he took my simple songs and made them sound gorgeous, and he did a wonderful job coordinating the musical contributions of other stellar studio players like Joe Phillips, George Koller, Al Cross, and Gary Breit.  In his solo career, Jason has created a number of fine albums, including my faves ”Big Hill Little Hill” (a beautiful compilation of instrumental guitar pieces) and the newly released “Buckets of Rain” (which includes distinctive cover versions of songs by such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Hoyt Axton, Doc Watson, Tom Waits, Bruce Cockburn, and Murray McLauchlan).  ”Buckets of Rain” was recorded live, without a band: the guitar work is so hot Jason doesn’t need any accompaniment, and his vocals are rich and soulful. I highly recommend Jason’s music. Check him out at www.jasonfowler.ca
