Last night Lisa and I headed to downtown Prince George to see Scott Cook and the Second Chances perform in concert at the Omineca Art Centre, where, by arriving early, we managed to score the best seats in the house (front row, centre). I’ve seen Scott in concert on numerous occasions over the years, and this was the best performance yet, full of energy, emotion, and good humour. Scott’s dance moves during his hilarious song “Kitchen Dance Party” were in and of themselves worth the price of admission; and humorous songs like “Fellas Get Out the Way” and “Talkin’ Anthropocalypse Blues” provided a nice counterpoint to movingly beautiful numbers such as “Pass It Along” and the epic “Further Down the Line.” It was great to hear Scott perform for a packed audience whose members hung on every word and note, and who gave him and his excellent band the warm and enthusiastic reception they so richly deserve. If you aren’t yet familiar with Scott’s music, I encourage you to look him up at www.scottcook.net.
