It was my pleasure earlier this month to welcome Judyta Frodyma to the UNBC community. Having recently completed a DPhil in Romantic Literature at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford University, Jude has commenced a two-year SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship in UNBC’s Department of English, and I’m privileged to be the formal supervisor of her research. Given our shared interest in Romanticism and the Environmental Humanities as well as in nineteenth-century Canadian literatures, I’m excited to be working with Jude. Aside from having commenced her research, Jude plunged right into our community upon arriving here. Not only has she met the “Big Tree” out at the Ancient Forest, but she has already had a close encounter with a black bear, and she ran in the Prince George Labour Day Classic mini-marathon, placing second in her category–and thus making it into our local newspaper, The Prince George Citizen.  Things are looking very good already. Welcome, Jude!
