I’ve just returned home from Saltspring Island, where I spent a couple of days visiting my old friend Paul Marcano, one of the planet’s most remarkable “famous unknown” artists, and one of the most amazing humans I know. To see some examples of Paul’s work in music and visual art, check out his website, “Dot Calm Zone,” at http://www.paulmarcano.com/ (I highly recommend exploring his Cosmic Jukebox).Â
Paul and I first crossed paths in 1981 when I recorded an album’s worth of songs at his home studio near Goldstream Park, British Columbia. I was so intrigued I moved in and lived with him and his wonderful family for six or seven years. During that period, Paul and I made lots of music together, performing as a duo or with a band in various venues around Victoria.  Visiting him during the past couple of days has left me moved and inspired. Thanks, Paul!
